Ingredients

Scale

Beef

  • Tender beef strips (flank or sirloin), about 1 lb (450g)

Vegetables

  • 12 bell peppers, sliced into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 23 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • Optional: snow peas, broccoli florets, or carrots, peeled and sliced (about 1 cup total)

Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons cracked black pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 2 tablespoons water

Other

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Slice the beef thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness. Chop the bell peppers and onion into bite-sized pieces, mince the garlic, and grate fresh ginger. Doing all prep work first helps speed up the cooking process.
  2. Make the Honey Pepper Sauce: In a small bowl, combine honey, cracked black pepper, soy sauce, and water. Stir until well blended and set aside while cooking the beef.
  3. Cook the Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef strips in a single layer and cook quickly until just browned. Remove the beef and set aside to avoid overcooking and keep the meat juicy.
  4. Sauté the Vegetables: Using the same pan, add bell peppers, onions, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until vegetables are crisp-tender and fragrant.
  5. Combine and Simmer: Return the beef to the pan and pour the honey pepper sauce over all. Stir well and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and evenly coats the beef and vegetables.
  6. Serve Immediately: Serve hot over steamed jasmine rice, noodles, or your preferred base for a colorful and satisfying meal.

Notes

  • Slice beef thinly and against the grain for tender bites.
  • Use high heat to quickly sear beef and vegetables, locking in flavor and texture.
  • Avoid overcrowding the pan; cook in batches if necessary to prevent steaming.
  • Adjust honey and black pepper levels to balance sweetness and spice to your taste.
  • Use fresh garlic and ginger for the best aromatic flavor.
