Ingredients

Scale

Steak

  • 1 lb ribeye or sirloin steak, well-marbled

Shrimp

  • 12 oz fresh or large frozen shrimp, peeled and deveined

Cajun Seasoning

  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Other Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cajun Seasoning: Mix paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, thyme, oregano, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl to create the seasoning blend that forms the flavor base of the dish.
  2. Season the Steak: Pat the steak dry, then generously rub the Cajun seasoning all over both sides. Let the steak rest to absorb the flavors while you prepare the shrimp.
  3. Season the Shrimp: In a medium bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil and the remaining Cajun seasoning until well coated.
  4. Cook the Steak: Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat with a drizzle of olive oil. Sear the steak for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare or to your preferred doneness. Let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  5. Cook the Shrimp: Using the same skillet, add butter and minced garlic. When fragrant, add shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and firm. Finish by squeezing fresh lemon juice over the shrimp.
  6. Plate and Garnish: Slice the steak against the grain and arrange with the shrimp on a warm plate. Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley on top and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Rest your meat after cooking to lock in juices and maximize tenderness.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan; cook shrimp in batches if necessary to maintain high heat and proper searing.
  • Use fresh shrimp when possible for the best texture and flavor.
  • Adjust cayenne pepper to balance the heat level to your preference.
  • Preheat your pan well before cooking steak or shrimp to ensure a beautiful crust.
