Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tsp ranch seasoning
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Toppings & Serving

  • Fresh lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Burger buns (brioche or potato buns recommended)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, ranch seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, breadcrumbs, and the egg. Mix gently but thoroughly to evenly distribute the seasonings without overworking the meat to keep the patties tender.
  2. Add the Cheddar Cheese: Divide the mixture in half. Form a thin patty with the first half, then sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheddar cheese in the center. Cover with the remaining meat and carefully seal the edges to encase the cheese inside, avoiding leaks during grilling.
  3. Shape the Burgers: Gently shape the stuffed chicken mixture into evenly sized patties about ¾ inch thick to ensure even cooking. Using wet hands helps prevent sticking and smooths the surface.
  4. Preheat and Oil the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 375°F to 400°F). Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking and to help achieve grill marks.
  5. Grill the Burgers: Place the patties on the grill carefully. Cook for 5–6 minutes per side, flipping once, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F and they develop a golden-brown crust. The cheese inside will be melted and gooey.
  6. Assemble and Serve: Toast buns on the grill for 1 minute if desired. Layer lettuce and tomato on the buns, then place the warm burgers on top. Serve immediately with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Don’t overmix the chicken mixture to avoid tough burgers.
  • Refrigerate patties for 15-20 minutes before grilling to help maintain their shape.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure burgers reach 165°F internally for safety.
  • Seal edges tightly around the cheese to prevent leakage during cooking.
  • Let burgers rest for a few minutes after grilling to retain juiciness.
