Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 large fresh eggs
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon milk or cream (optional)

Filling Ingredients (optional)

  • Cheese (such as sharp cheddar, mozzarella, or goat cheese)
  • Ham, cooked bacon, or sausage
  • Spinach
  • Mushrooms
  • Bell peppers
  • Tomatoes
  • Fresh herbs (chives, parsley, dill)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Gather and prep your fillings by grating cheese, chopping vegetables, or cooking any meats. Crack the eggs into a bowl, add a pinch of salt and pepper, and whisk until smooth and slightly frothy.
  2. Heat the Pan: Place a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the butter and swirl the pan to evenly coat the bottom. Let the butter melt to a gentle foam without browning.
  3. Pour and Cook the Eggs: Pour the whisked eggs into the pan and let them settle for a few seconds. Using a spatula, gently push the cooked edges toward the center while tilting the pan to allow uncooked eggs to spread evenly.
  4. Add Fillings: When the eggs are mostly set but still slightly runny on top, add your prepared fillings evenly across one half of the omelette.
  5. Fold and Finish Cooking: Carefully fold the other half of the omelette over the fillings. Let it cook for another 30 seconds to 1 minute, then slide the omelette onto a plate.

Notes

  • Use fresh eggs for fluffier, better-tasting omelettes.
  • Remove from heat when slightly underdone; residual heat will finish cooking.
  • Cook on medium-low heat to prevent burning and improve control.
  • Ensure pan is properly preheated before adding eggs to avoid sticking.
  • Add fillings sparingly to make folding easier and maintain texture.
