Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 8 oz thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin steak
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 small bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for sautéing filling)

Cheese

  • 4 oz provolone cheese, sliced or shredded
  • 4 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded

Dough & Finish

  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade; can use gluten-free pizza dough)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for brushing breadsticks)
  • Optional garnishes: chopped fresh parsley or oregano

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon olive oil. Sauté thinly sliced onions and bell peppers until soft and fragrant. Add the thinly sliced steak, then season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until steak is browned and tender. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. Roll Out the Dough: On a floured surface, roll the pizza dough into a large rectangle about ¼ inch thick to create an even base for the filling.
  3. Layer the Filling and Cheese: Evenly spread the steak and vegetable mixture over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Generously sprinkle provolone and mozzarella cheese on top to ensure gooey cheesiness.
  4. Roll and Slice: Carefully roll the dough lengthwise, enclosing the filling inside. Pinch the seams to seal the roll securely. Slice the roll into 1 to 1.5-inch wide breadsticks using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  5. Bake to Golden Perfection: Place the breadsticks cut side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush them generously with olive oil. Bake in a preheated 400°F oven for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown and cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve Warm and Enjoy: Allow the breadsticks to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced steak for tenderness and quick cooking.
  • Avoid overfilling the dough to prevent tearing and messy breadsticks.
  • Brushing with olive oil helps achieve a golden, crispy crust.
  • Letting dough rest for 10 minutes after slicing helps the breadsticks maintain their shape.
  • Serve immediately for best flavor and gooey cheese texture.
