Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 12 frozen potato and cheese pierogi
  • 1 lb ground turkey sausage
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped (any color)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley or chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sausage and vegetables: Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground turkey sausage and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. When sausage is halfway cooked, add chopped onions and bell peppers. Sauté for about 5 minutes until softened and fragrant. Stir in minced garlic last to avoid burning.
  2. Cook the pierogi: Push the sausage and vegetables to one side of the skillet. Add a bit more oil or butter to the empty space, then place frozen pierogi flat side down. Cook 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  3. Combine and finish: Gently mix browned pierogi with turkey sausage and vegetables. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook an additional 2-3 minutes to blend flavors and heat through evenly.

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd the pan; cook pierogi in batches if necessary to ensure crispiness.
  • Use medium heat to prevent burning and get a perfect brown on sausage and veggies.
  • Adjust salt and herbs during cooking to balance flavors.
  • Fresh parsley or chives added at the end brighten the dish.
  • Adding butter in the final step enhances richness and silky texture.
